About Class 159
We are Edmonton Fire Rescue Services 159th recruit class and the largest single class to date! With 52 recruit firefighters we have a huge variety of life and career skills, all coming together to be forged by EFRS’s 16 week training program.
Each one of the 52 recruits represents a unique card that comes together to make a full deck. This was the inspiration behind our logo design, as well as our class motto; “Many Hearts United in Service”. Paying homage to the Patron Saint of Firefighters, St. Florian takes centre stage on the Ace of Hearts, mirroring the firefighter that represents all in the service.
Our Class Crest features the Florian cross, a widely recognizable symbol of the fire service. Also displayed is the North Saskatchewan River as it runs through the Edmonton River Valley.
